I present the show “You Turn Me On I’m a Radio” on Wednesday evening 9-11pm
I grew up in Melbourne and have lived in the Otway hills behind Apollo Bay for nearly 40 years. I play guitar and bass guitar, have performed in several music outfits and combinations in and around Apollo Bay for most of those years and sing in the Apollo Bay Community Choir.
My taste in music is fairly broad, I guess some of my favourite areas of interest would be Fats Waller & Duke Ellington in the 30’s, Charlie Parker in the 40’s, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix & Joni Mitchell in the 60’s – cool folk, blues, and country, and contemporary jazz. While I appreciate the great talents of male performers my particular focus is on women jazz singers. Perhaps because they receive less attention, maybe just my personal taste or it could be a guy thing. My mission, if I have one, is to share & expose these artists to an audience that will never hear them on commercial radio. Anyway, while I have a huge range of music at home, the show I present is women artists, but not only in the jazz idiom – what THAT actually is would be the subject of a much larger discussion than this brief resume.
